The eyes are the most expressive elements
of the face. Blepharoplasty is an operation
whose aim is to correct heavy, wrinkled, puffy, or tired-looking eyes.
The surgery consists of the removal of excess eyelid skin and fat
deposits, while preserving the natural expression.
Upper eyelid
blepharoplasty
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty
can open the eyes by removing excess skin and fat. One of the
most frequently performed surgical procedures, upper eyelid blepharoplasty
is used to remove fat deposits, loose skin and drooping that may
form around the upper eyelids with age. Upper lid blepharoplasty
can improve two common problem areas: excess skin on the upper eyelid,
and puffiness in the inner corner and middle of the upper eyelid.
Incisions are made in the natural creases, resulting in upper eyelids
that have a more defined lid crease and eyelid platform for eye
shadow and makeup.
Lower eyelid blepharoplasty
Lower eyelid blepharoplasty can improve
the look of baggy, tired eyes and under eye circles. Fat is typically
removed or repositioned through the newer transconjunctival approach
which does not leave a visible scar. This procedure alleviates the
tired look and can considerably rejuvenate the facial
expression. Improvement in dark circles and wrinkles can be further
achieved by using erbium laser resurfacing or a chemical peel in
the eyelid area. With todays advanced techniques, eyelid surgery
can offer a fresher, more alert look and quicker recovery.
